Gottfried Wagener Prize 2008
About this Award
Inspired by the life of scientist Gottfried Wagener, this award has been initiated by twelve technology- focused German companies and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan to encourage and support young researchers in Japan.
The Gottfried Wagener Prize will be granted for the first time in 2008 under the patronage of the German Federal Minister of Education and Research, supported by DAAD and Fraunhofer- Gesellschaft. By creating new opportunities of dialogue between Japanese and German individuals and organizations, we would like to deepen existing relations between both countries and help to create new seminal partnerships for future developments.

In addition to the prize money, the Awardees will be granted a scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service - DAAD - for a short-term stay at a German research institution or university of their choice.
Requirements
The Gottfried Wagener Prize will be granted for path breaking research driven by the power of imagination and innovation, which contribute to shape tomorrow’s society.
To apply for the prize, the submitted research description should propose technology solutions in the areas of

Ž¥Healthcare
Ž¥Safety & Security
The presented work should be applicable primarily in one of the following industries:
Automotive, Biotechnology & Pharma, Chemistry, Electronics, Energy Supply, Information Communication Technologies, Medical Technologies, Production Technologies
The submission may be the result of a work completed within the past two years or ongoing research.
Jury
After pre-selection by technical experts of the awarding companies, a Jury composed of a standing committee and expert members will evaluate and select the Awardees.
